Typically, the Chorale is 70-90 strong, comprising soprano, alto, tenor and bass voices.

Four or five concerts are performed each year, most commonly in May, July, October, November and December. Occasionally, concerts are performed in country centres. Major concerts are performed with the Camerata Orchestra, which was formed in 1975 by the Chorale’s current Conductor, Douglas Heywood. Our more informal annual Christmas Concert is aimed at families, being a Nine Lesson Carol Service with a beautiful mix of Traditional Carols and Christmas Songs.

The repertoire comprises major choral works, and these are usually performed with the Camerata Orchestra. These works have included masses, oratorios, and passion music by such composers as J S Bach, Beethoven, Bloch, Bruckner, Berlioz, Britten, Faure, Handel, Haydn, Mozart, Schubert, Verdi and Vaughan Williams. The Chorale has performed in Festivals and other community events.

In association with the Camerata Orchestra, the Chorale presented a special Anniversary Concert in August 2014, at the Hawthorn Arts Centre, to celebrate our 70th Anniversary.
